Description
The B40 mounts to the front of flat or curved ballistic shields with industrial-strength reclosable fasteners, so there is no drilling and no hole in the shield. It fits handgun- and rifle-rated platforms, and at 13.0 oz with batteries it is the lightest light in its class — weight the operator carries on the arm already holding the shield.
Output is regulated rather than peak-rated: the B40 holds 1,100 lumens for the full 2.5-hour run instead of publishing a headline number that collapses in the first minute. Color rendering is CRI 90 at 5000K, so skin tone, clothing color and what is in a suspect’s hands read accurately under the beam.
A single pressure switch runs the light and changes modes, with two selectable programs: On/Off, or three tactical modes (Momentary, Continuous On, and a disorienting Turbo-Strobe™). A kill switch locks the light out against unintentional activation. The B40 runs on 2× 18650 or 4× CR123 batteries, is waterproof to 33 ft, impact rated to 9.8 ft, and is rated to 300°F. Assembled in the USA.
Blended Beam
A wide peripheral flood and a concentrated center beam from one head. The flood covers the room the team is moving through; the center beam reaches down the hallway or across the yard. Patent pending.
Retrofittable Design
The light and battery pack mount to the front of the shield with the included 3M reclosable fastener kit. The B40 can be added to shields already in service and removed again without permanent changes to the shield.
Durability
6061 hard-anodized aluminum head, polycarbonate lens and armored cable. Waterproof to 33 ft (10 m), impact resistant to 9.8 ft (3 m), and operational from −4°F to 300°F (−20°C to 149°C).
Turbo-Strobe™
A high-rate strobe intended to disorient and delay, available as the third position in the tactical mode program.
Adaptive Power
Runs on 2× 18650 rechargeable cells or 4× CR123 primaries, so a department can standardize on whichever it already stocks.
Pressure Switch Activation
A square pressure switch comes installed. One thumb activates the light and cycles modes without letting go of the shield.
Kill Switch
Locks the light out so it cannot be triggered accidentally in a vehicle, a stack, or storage.
