SCENARIO

An arson fugitive flees the scene and heads into nearby corn fields to escape authorities. It is late summer in Iowa, the sun is setting, and the corn has grown to its peak height of 9-12 ft tall. The fugitive can easily hide out of sight as long as necessary.

Solution

The local police deploy a drone with thermal imaging cameras to search for heat signatures of the fugitive in the corn field. The search is at night, so the drone is also equipped with FoxFury Rugo lights for illumination. One light is attached to each leg of the drone with mounts (two lights total).

Once deployed, the drone identifies the heat signature of the fugitive, and an officer begins his foot pursuit into the field. The officer uses the drone above to track his movements and follow the general direction of the fugitive.

The drone pilot or command center provides more precise details for the officers in pursuit such as the heading of the fugitive or any hazards or obstacles in their way.

When the officer is in position to apprehend the fugitive, the Rugos on the drone provide overhead lighting that assists the officer in seeing the fugitive in the surrounding corn. Once the fugitive is captured, the officer uses the drone as a beacon to lead them out of the field.

The use of a drone equipped with both thermal cameras and lighting expedites a fugitive search that could have been very slow, tedious, and potentially dangerous. The drone positions a thermal camera above the field so it can identify somebody that would otherwise be invisible to search parties on the ground.

The lighting on the drone serves as both a search spotlight and as a beacon for officers on scene.
