This feature is so unique
to the industry that it was granted a US Patent (US Patent
No 6,966,668).
Most lights provide a conical light output
which illuminates a subject in the form of a circle. These
circular light spots are typically in the range of twelve
degrees or less as they exit a standard incandescent bulb & reflector
combination.
Accordingly, anyone with a flashlight, or an
equivalent headlamp, will have to move the light around in
order to see the surrounding area, where FoxFury’s
Signature and Performance editions will cast a much larger
light pattern that is basically rectangular in shape (elongated
oval).
This allows the wearer to simply move their
eyes, not their heads. Separate from the obvious advantages,
such a time savings can prove critical in dangerous situations,
like fire fighting.

The Figures below show the different
colors of the spectrum, and the human eye’s ability
to see them.
It shows that our eyes respond to colors that
are mainly green, and least at the extremes of red and blue.
If a light source matches the output of each
color to the curve shown, then that light will be optimal
for the human eye. In other words, no light or energy is
wasted because we cannot see it.
A light with too much energy beyond red is
a real waste of energy, because we can't see it, but we call
them incandescent bulbs. A light with too much energy beyond
blue would also be a waste of energy, because we can’t
see it, so we coat the insides with phosphors to change the
emitted wavelengths to those we can see better- the basis
of a typical fluorescent lamp. A light source with too little
green will render less than optimal images and colors (i.e.
typical of parking lot lights - that are pink or yellow).
White LED's are similar to fluorescent lamps
in that the light source itself is a specific wavelength
that is not too useful to the human eye (a deep blue). However,
by adding phosphors over it, combined emitted spectrum of
light is broad and continuous, which we perceive as white
light.

Monocolored light
Involves a narrow spectrum of light. The result is light
tailor-made for the specific application. Our Forensic, Hunting,
Tactical and Desert editons make use of monocolored light.
All other editions are polycolored.

Mixed Colored Light
FoxFury selects LED Color Combinations that enable Optimal
Vision for specific environments and applications, approximating
Photopic lighting, and benefiting the user. FoxFury's Application-Specific
lighting is available in a variety of models, configurations,
and color combinations. This approach provides solutions,
which are optimized to fit specific needs.

This feature is so unique to the industry that
it was granted a US Patent (US Patent No 6,966,668).
Sensors placed above each eye match the Human
eye response to light.
They respond similar to the human eye’s
pupils and do so faster than our human eyes can respond.
Therefore, when an unexpected bright reflection
from a: mirror, snow, water… is sensed, the sensors respond
by dimming the lights (independently above each eye) to reduce
eye discomfort to a minimum.
The Human eye is sensitive to light over a
very large range (10,000,000 times) of light intensity. This
allows us to adapt to very strong sunlight, or a very dark
room.
Keeping with the idea
of hands-free operation, the sensors can shutdown the LEDs
completely when the ambient light illumination is sufficient,
saving battery power for when it is needed…in the dark
of the night |

While no specific requirements are established
by NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency), all components of
the Fire Fighter version can withstand higher temperatures
than normal. Silicone high-temperature cable, synthetic rubber
head strap, and closed cell neoprene face foam are the visible
changes over the standard Outdoor Light. |

The FoxFury Intrinsically Safe Signature
Editions are designed with a double "O"-Ring seal
on the battery pack which is intended to render the product
Intrinsically safe, or explosion proof. The battery pack also
contains a fuse and fusible resistor.
This means that the act of using the light,
including turning it on and off will not cause any explosions
in hazardous gas filled environments, for example.
FoxFury has recieved formal
UL 913 approval for these products. Please see Intrinsically
Safe products.
